Mohamed Atfawi calls for an urgent solution to the urban transportation issue in Oujda

The governor of the Eastern Province, Mohamed Atfawi, stressed the need to find an urgent solution to the issue of urban transportation in the city of Oujda, in light of the current state of the transportation service within the city. The governor explained that the people of Oujda cannot wait until 2025/2026 to have an adequate transportation service that responds to their daily mobility needs.
In this context, Mohamed Atfawi stressed that the issue of urban transportation is one that requires the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, especially the collective council of the city of Oujda, whether by seeking a temporary solution that alleviates the severity of the existing issue, or by adopting a final and sustainable solution that guarantees the continuity and quality of the service.
Urban transportation as an essential social service
The governor of the Eastern Province said that urban transportation is a basic social service and a legitimate right for the residents of the city of Oujda, given its direct link to the daily life of citizens. He highlighted that this right is particularly important for large groups, especially students and the working class, who rely heavily on public transportation to travel to their places of study and work.
The local official stressed that the challenge related to the issue of urban transportation has been placed in the hands of the collective council, hoping to reach a solution as soon as possible, taking into account the expectations of the population and responding to the requirements of urban development in the city, within the framework of a realistic and responsible approach that takes into account the social dimension of this vital facility.
