Regional Foreign Trade Forum brings together entrepreneurs and officials on export challenges

On Friday, December 05, 2025, the Regional Foreign Trade Forum kicked off at the City of Professions and Competencies in Nador under the theme: “Regions: The Lever of Export”, in an initiative aimed at strengthening the position of the Eastern Province within the international trade system and increasing its presence in the field of export and import during the period 2025-2027.
The forum was attended by Morocco's Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hujira, along with the Governor of Nador Province, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the East, the Director General of the West Mediterranean Port of Nador, government officials, directors of public institutions and foreign trade stakeholders.
The forum discussed the reasons for the weak response of the region's enterprises to the government support program for foreign trade in 2025-2027, as the current participation rate did not exceed 2%, which reflects the need to review the mechanisms of accompaniment and incentives to enable enterprises to effectively integrate into the promotion and export system.
The program also highlighted the support opportunities and benefits offered by the program to exporters and importers, especially in terms of trade promotion outside the Kingdom, access to international markets, and improving the management and commercial capabilities of small and medium enterprises in the region.
During the forum, the issue of enhancing the competitiveness of businesses in the eastern region and encouraging them to benefit from export networks, in line with the economic transformations taking place in the region, especially with the progress of the Nador West Mediterranean Port project and the logistical framework it provides to support foreign trade.
Today's meeting also opened a direct discussion with various actors in the import and export sector, with the aim of listening to their ideas and observations regarding the challenges they face in foreign transactions, and reviewing their proposals for enhancing efficiency and facilitating access to the international market.
The Eastern Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services has invited all actors and professionals to attend, participate actively, and engage in the work of the forum as a platform to support enterprises dealing in the foreign trade sector and strengthen their presence within the national and international system.
This forum remains an opportunity to continue the discussion on the future of trade exchanges in the eastern region and ways to increase its exports according to a participatory approach that brings together public institutions and the private sector to ensure a balanced development in the coming years.
