Rain delays Morocco's mandarin export campaign to the U.S. market

Oriental Eco
Morocco's mandarin export campaign is facing a two- to three-week delay due to unusual rains in the producing regions, affecting the readiness of shipments destined for export to the United States.
The impact of weather conditions on exports
According to Fresh Plaza, a platform specialized in the agricultural sector, the first shipments are expected to arrive on the US East Coast in two weeks after cryogenic processing, as the production process has been significantly disrupted by the weather.
In California, heavy rainfall disrupted local production, with oranges recording larger-than-normal sizes, with the flavor quality of some varieties affected and a higher risk of fungal diseases.
An opportunity for Moroccan products in the U.S. market
This situation opens a window of opportunity for Morocco, especially for small volumes intended for bagged programs. However, with continued strong European demand and US import rights set at 10%, the US market may not be the first destination for Moroccan exporters this season.
