ONR allocates 21.6 million dirhams to develop video surveillance system

Oriental Eco
The National Railway Office (ONR) launched a project to expand and maintain the video surveillance system across its network, with an annual budget of 21.6 million dirhams. This project concerns several regions of the Kingdom, including the eastern region, which includes important railway stations and tracks.
The project has a duration of one year, renewable for up to three years, and includes three main pillars. The first relates to expanding and modernizing the video surveillance infrastructure with a budget of Dh17.75 million, with the aim of improving the coverage and quality of existing equipment. The second pillar is dedicated to the maintenance of existing cameras, excluding upgraded equipment, with a budget of AED 936,000, to ensure the continued operation and reliability of the system. The third pillar is technical support for the VMS Milestone program at a cost of AED 2.93 million, to ensure effective management and utilization of recorded images and data.
Comprehensive coverage of various facilities
The project covers the entire ONR network, including existing and future stations, where surveillance is essential to ensure the safety of passengers and employees. It also includes maintenance workshops where trains and other equipment are repaired and maintained.
The coverage also includes railroad tracks on regular and high-speed lines, as well as guard posts along the tracks to secure crossings and bridges and monitor infrastructure. The project also extends to dry ports and warehouses that require constant surveillance to prevent theft and vandalism, as well as administrative buildings and other facilities to protect employees and sensitive data.
This project comes as part of the ONR's efforts to enhance security across its network and improve the quality of services provided to users. The eastern region remains one of the regions concerned with this development, given the importance of its railway infrastructure and its role in linking various cities and economic zones.
