Nador Regional Council holds extraordinary session to approve development agreements and review budget allocations

On Thursday, December 11, the Nador Regional Council held an extraordinary session under the chairmanship of Mr. Said Rahmouni, President of the Council, in the presence of the Head of the Department of Territorial Communities at the Municipality. The session was devoted to studying and voting on a number of draft agreements of a developmental and social nature, in addition to discussing issues related to the financial management of the regional council.
This session is part of the Regional Council's annual programming, especially with regard to improving infrastructure, enhancing school transportation services, supporting associations, and adjusting financial allocations in line with the needs registered at the regional level.
Public Lighting and Fighting Fragility
In this context, the Council approved a draft partnership agreement between the Nador Regional Council and the Agency for Economic and Social Revitalization and Development (AREDS) for the East Region, related to the construction of a public lighting network for National Road No. 16, at the level of the section between the Arkman community and the Qasita area in the Bouarak community. This project aims to improve road safety conditions and enhance the attractiveness of this road axis, which is subject to significant traffic.
The session also included studying and voting on a draft partnership agreement between the Nador Regional Council and the Community of Nador, which concerns the delivery of an amphibious eight-wheel drive vehicle equipped with spraying mechanisms to fight mosquitoes. This project comes in the context of supporting the efforts of territorial communities in the field of health prevention and limiting the spread of insects, especially during periods of high temperatures.
Support for school transportation and associations
In a social dimension, the council approved a draft partnership agreement between the Nador Regional Council and the community of Ezzanen, concerning the delivery of a school transportation bus, a move aimed at facilitating access to educational institutions, especially for students from rural and semi-rural areas.
Another draft partnership agreement between the Nador Regional Council and the Beni Wakil Oulad Oulad Emhind community was also approved for the delivery of a school transportation bus, as part of strengthening the offer to fight school wastage and improve schooling conditions.
In addition, the council discussed and approved a point related to supporting the remaining sports and social associations, in line with the mandate of the regional council in the field of encouraging associative work and local initiatives with social impact.
Budget and financial management issues
On the financial level, the Council reviewed the draft regional budget for the year 2026, where the proposed amendments were discussed in light of intervention priorities and available resources. The session also included the transfer of some funds in the management budget for the fiscal year 2025 in order to ensure the proper implementation of the planned programs and respond to the developments imposed by the pace of daily management.
The outcomes of this extraordinary session reflect the Nador Regional Council's continued work on files directly related to infrastructure and social services, while ensuring that financial decisions are aligned with the needs of the region, within the framework of respecting the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
