Regional Business Support Caravan lands in Nador

Economy of the East

Yesterday, Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Nador, the activities of the regional caravan to raise awareness of the support mechanism for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the East Region were organized after a two-week journey that included a number of provinces of the region. The caravan, which was organized by the Regional Investment Center of the East Region in partnership with a number of institutional stakeholders, was held in Nador's City of Professions and Skills.

This initiative falls within the framework of contributing to the promotion of more inclusive economic development by bringing public support mechanisms closer to young entrepreneurs and shedding light on the investment opportunities available at the level of the region, focusing on the specificities of each region, including Nador.

This sensitization process, which ran from November 25th, was organized under the slogan «A new push for investment and development», adopting an approach based on the principle of positive discrimination in favor of the provinces of the East Region. Hundreds of young entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs from the provinces of Fejrij, Jarada, Berkane, Tawerert, Jersif, Nador, and the Oujda-Anjad municipality benefited from this convoy.

Three framing goals of the initiative

In coordination with their institutional partners, the staff of the Regional Investment Center in the East Region set three main objectives for this caravan. The first objective is to spread the culture of entrepreneurship among young people, idea holders and local actors by introducing them to the available support and incentive mechanisms. The second objective seeks to strengthen the regional investment ecosystem by connecting entrepreneurs with financing and support institutions and markets. The third objective focuses on facilitating the creation of enterprises and contributing to job creation to support regional economic development.

A number of participants at the Nador station emphasized that these goals, despite their presence in public policies for years, still need to be further explained and simplified, especially with regard to administrative procedures and funding mechanisms, as well as practical accompaniment that enables ideas to be transformed into implementable projects.

Explaining the elements of the new approach

The speakers, including representatives of the Regional Investment Center, regional officials, representatives of the General Federation of Moroccan Enterprises, professional chambers, and partnership and financing institutions, explained the elements of the new approach to investment support. The interventions focused on explaining the latest developments in the available subsidies, the procedures for preparing investment files, and the criteria for benefiting, while opening the way for direct discussion and answering the questions of the participants.

The Regional Investment Center staff explained the requirements of the support mechanism and the nomination process, with a focus on the opportunities available to businesses in Nador and the rest of the region. Interactive materials highlighting the eligible sectors were presented, in addition to organizing practical workshops and setting up individual consultation and support spaces to simplify the procedures and explain the required documents, in line with the directives aimed at encouraging productive investment and enhancing its contribution to economic growth.

Regional context and prospects

In their interventions, a number of regional officials pointed out that this caravan is part of a regional context characterized by economic and social transformations that the East Region has undergone over the past years, within the framework of national development choices aimed at reducing regional disparities and improving the conditions for investment. They also recalled the royal speech of March 18, 2003, which served as a reference point for a new phase of development in several regions of the region.

In this context, the prospects associated with the upcoming operationalization of the West Mediterranean port of Nador were discussed as an element that could open up new opportunities for MSMEs, especially in terms of services, logistics, and industrial and commercial value chains.

The role of small and medium enterprises

The pivotal role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in supporting the regional economic fabric, in terms of job creation and value-added production, was highlighted during the Nador station. In this context, Mohamed Amine El Fatemi, President of the General Federation of Moroccan Enterprises (FGME) in the East Region, emphasized that SMEs must be prepared to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the upcoming economic transformations, noting that supporting them is one of the priorities of promoting investment and boosting employment.

The new approach requires clear commitments and trackable investments by enterprises, while working to establish an industrial and manufacturing culture that contributes to improving performance and promoting innovation, taking into account the specificities of the local economic fabric, he said.

Support mechanism under the new investment charter

The SME support mechanism is part of the implementation of the provisions of the new investment charter, which aims to make productive investment a lever to revitalize the economy and promote regional justice. This mechanism will contribute to improving investment and employment indicators in the various regions of the Eastern Province, including Nador.

In this regard, the investment sector has prepared a guide explaining the conditions, procedures and practical steps to benefit from this support, as part of efforts to improve communication with investors. Rachid Rami, Acting Director of the Regional Investment Center in the East Region, stressed that the doors of the center remain open to investors and independent workers to provide clarifications and answer inquiries, in order to ensure effective support for the regional entrepreneurial fabric.

The Nador leg of this regional caravan reflects an approach that aims to bring support mechanisms closer to local actors and encourage investment and entrepreneurship, within an approach that relies on coordination between different interveners, given that promoting more inclusive economic growth depends on integrating the roles of institutions, entrepreneurs and enterprises.
