Morocco officially launches 5G network in 100 cities, including Nador and Oujda

Economy of the East

From Friday, November 7, 2025, Morocco will undergo a digital transformation with the official launch of the fifth generation (5G) network by the three players in the telecommunications sector. Maroc Telecom announced via text messages and its digital platforms the start of the service, opening the door to a new era of ultra-high-speed connectivity.

In conjunction with this event, Orange and Inwi confirmed that 5G coverage will initially cover around 100 cities across the country, including Nador and Oujda. The coverage will gradually extend to the rest of the regions, in a move that is considered the most significant since the introduction of 4G technology years ago.

Various offers and services

Inwi explained that 5G services will be immediately available to all its customers without any additional cost or change in SIM cards, as its current chipsets are fully compatible with 5G technology. The company has also launched a range of special offers, both for individuals and businesses, to suit different uses such as entertainment, connectivity and gaming.

In the same vein, Inwi introduced a new service called «5G i-Box», a solution that provides ultra-fast and stable home internet, ideal for streaming, distance learning, and working from home. It also launched a business-oriented offering called «5G Business Connect,» which enables advanced digital solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, remote maintenance, and connected robotics.

A push for digital transformation

Orange Morocco emphasized that this technological leap will give Moroccans an advanced digital experience, whether in watching high-quality content, education, telemedicine, and even smart home management. The company emphasized that 5G will help accelerate the digital transformation within Moroccan businesses and give them greater competitiveness in the international market thanks to the speed and stability of the connection.

With this launch, Morocco is officially entering a new era of smart connectivity, where the Internet will no longer be a mere entertainment, but a strategic tool to develop education, improve public services, and support the national digital economy. The gradual expansion of coverage will allow different regions of the Kingdom to benefit from this technology, contributing to reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
