In a strategic step as part of the restructuring of university institutions in Morocco, the Council of Mohammed I University in Oujda unanimously approved, on April 22, 2025, Decision No. 2025/11 to divide the Multidisciplinary College of Nador into four independent university institutions. This transformation comes within the framework of the national project launched by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, effective during the academic year 2025-2026, with the aim of improving the educational offer and enhancing the effectiveness of academic and administrative management.
New University Institutions in Nador
The decision includes the creation of four specialized faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Management, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, and the Faculty of Arts, Languages and Sciences. This division aims to distribute the specializations according to a vision more in line with the requirements of regional development and the needs of the labor market in the East Region.
An official document of the university restructuring program has confirmed that the division of the multidisciplinary college in Nador will be included in the projects approved at Mohammed I University. This shift is expected to relieve pressure on the current structure of the college, provide suitable spaces for scientific research and applied training, and create more specialized and autonomous university institutions.
Tawerirt extension enters the university map
In parallel with the division of the Polytechnic College of Nador, the restructuring plan includes the creation of two permanent university institutions within the Taourirt Annex, one of which is a Faculty of Economics and Management and the other a Faculty of Science and Technology. This project falls within the context of linking the Taourirt extension to the network of new institutions affiliated to Mohammed I University, within a vision that responds to the requirements of advanced regionalization.
The Ministry of Higher Education is expected to announce soon the organizational and structural details of the institutions created after the division, with the aim of enhancing the radiance of higher education in the Nador region and the eastern region.
