Details of Biwi's second court hearing: Denial of forgery and mutual accusations

Oriental Eco

In his second appearance before the court, Abdelnabi Biwi responded to President Turchi's questions, especially regarding his relationship with a number of parties to the case, including El Hadj Ben Ibrahim, Alal H., and his ex-wife Samia M. He denied knowing some of the witnesses, rejected accusations of complicity in shady real estate operations, and denied any falsification of an authorization, stressing that he worked within the framework of the law.

The June 19 hearing also addressed the theft case involving his former mother-in-law, Jamila B. Abdelnabi Biwi accuses her of leaving the apartment with 15 bags containing valuable property, including watches and jewelry valued at more than 6 million dirhams. But the former president of the Orient is suspected of falsely accusing his mother-in-law of theft to force his ex-wife to withdraw a complaint against him for forgery.

He is also suspected of fabricating false testimonies against Abdellatif M., his ex-wife's brother-in-law, to convict him of assault and battery for the same purpose.

Abdelnabi Biwi denies all these accusations and tries to prove his innocence. Here's what he said.

“My last contact with El Haj Ibrahim was in September 2014”
13:56. At his second appearance, Abdulnabi Biwi showed up in jeans and a blue sweater, in a simple outfit. His hair is shorter than usual, marking a noticeable change in his appearance. He was carrying a folder from which he later took out some of the case papers.

President Turchi began questioning him about his relationship with Said L. Biwi emphasized that he did not know him. According to the judge, this man was working for Haj Ibrahim, and had testified against Biwi and Said Nasiri.

This man told the judicial police that he attended the handover of the keys to the villa in favor of his employer, El Hadj Ben Brahim: “At first, my friend lived in an apartment in Maarif, near Boulle. Then he moved to a villa in the California neighborhood. I was there on the day Said Nasiri handed over the keys in the presence of Abdelnabi Biwi.‘.

But Peewee vehemently denied it: “I don't know him at all. I sold the villa to Belkacem Mir. I can't sell something I don't own. Then he didn't mention a date or year for this event.”.

Turchi then asked him about his relationship with Haj Ibrahim, citing the latter's statements that after he was released from prison in Mauritania, he spent 15 days in Senegal, during which time he communicated with Biwi about the villa.

Peewee replied: “You can check the call log with the technical means available. My first call with Alhaj Ibrahim was on November 2, 2013, and my last call was in September 2014. Except for one time when he called from Mauritania, I interrupted the call. When I recognized him, he introduced himself as a businessman and showed me a diplomatic passport.”.

Bayoui reacted when a clip from the transcript of El Haj Ibrahim's interrogation was shown on the screen, referring to him as “Wajdi” and ”Maltese.”.

Peewee said: “When they call someone by these nicknames, it means they live somewhere else. For example, ‘Fassi’ is for someone from Fez. But I never left Oujda. He used these nicknames to make his scenario believable.”.

“If there's evidence, it's true”
He was then asked about his relationship with Aalal H. “I met him in 2015 when he was the head of the group and I was the head of the entity,” he said, emphasizing that there was no evidence of any contact between them before that.

But President Torshi returned to the statements of El Hadj Ben Brahim, who claimed that at the end of 2013 he invited Alal H. and his brother, gave them suits, and then spent an evening in Ain al-Wolf. and his brother, gave them suits, and then took them out for an evening in Ain al-Wolf. The next day, he said, Biwi joined them at the villa in the California neighborhood.

Peewee replied: “At that time, I didn't know Allal H. In addition, he is talking about the villa in 2013, while Belkacem Mir was living in it until 2014. His employees confirmed it. You can check if I entered it even once during that period. If there is proof, it is true.”.

6 million dirhams of “stolen” jewelry”
14:17. President Turchi said to Pewee: “Let's talk about the robbery of Jamila B., the mother of your ex-wife Samia M. What do you have to say about that?”

Peewee answered: “I filed a complaint with the Crown Prosecutor, and legal procedures were followed. One day, I came home and found my things missing. At first I thought it was a robbery, but the guard told me that Jamila and Samia had passed by. Samia was gone from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and they left with 15 bags.”.

  • The boss asked: “Did they have the keys?”
  • Peewee answered: “My wife and I lived there, so she had the keys.”.
  • Question: “What was stolen?”
  • Answer: “Watches, jewelry, and decorative items.”.

President Turchi presented the text of the complaint filed by Piwi on June 25, 2013, in which he listed the stolen items and their value: Dh200,000 in cash, three watches (Franck Muller worth Dh190,000, Rolex with diamonds worth Dh800,000 and Breguet worth Dh300,000), as well as jewelry with a total estimated value of Dh6 million.

  • The judge asked: “Isn't that a lot of money?”
  • Peewee's response: “They were investments.” He explained that he sometimes gifted his wife and bought her jewelry at her request, but with the intention of reselling it later, according to an agreement between them.
  • The judge asked: “If you gift something to someone, doesn't it become their property?”
  • Peewee replied: “It was a stab in the back. Samia wasn't even there. She felt ashamed of what her mother had done, and she was hoping she would back off. She told me that later. Even after our divorce, we remained on good terms. I still pay her three times as much alimony as the court ordered. She even made a concession in my favor in 2024 in front of the investigating judge.”.

Pressure?
President Torshi relayed the account of Jamila B., Biwi's former mother-in-law, who said that what was moved were only her daughter's belongings. “He filed a complaint against me to pressure my daughter to withdraw her complaint against him for forgery.”.

To clarify, the California villa was sold by Biwi in 2013. According to official paperwork, the buyer was Belkacem Mir, although El Hajj Ben Ibrahim claimed to have bought it as well. What matters is the seller: The real owner of the villa was Samia M., who accuses her ex-husband of forging a power of attorney to sell the property. To get her to withdraw the complaint, Biwi falsely accused his mother-in-law of theft. This is the mother-in-law and Samia's version, although the latter later recanted.

A long discussion about the jewelry ensued. The court showed them on screens, but no images of men's jewelry were shown. Biwi said that a photo of one of his watches had been removed, proving that his jewelry was hidden.
