Amazigh channel highlights BDM's cheese factory

Economy of the East

Within the framework of following the shifts in the industrial fabric of the Eastern Province, a new industrial project in the field of valorization of dairy products has recently emerged, namely the modern cheese production plant “BDM Frommage” in Nador, which is the first unit of its kind in the region in this specialization.

The factory, which opened in the middle of this year, was able in a short period of time to impose its presence among the food production units in the region, by diversifying the varieties of cheese produced, while focusing on respecting quality and health safety standards. This approach has enabled its products to register a remarkable demand at the local and regional levels, in a context characterized by a growing demand for locally produced food products.

Production stages and quality standards

During a field visit to the plant, the various stages of cheese production were examined, from milk processing, through the technical stages of manufacturing, to packaging and storage before distribution. The visit also allowed a close look at the internal organization of the unit and the role played by the staff in ensuring that the approved hygienic conditions are respected, in line with the standards in the food industry.

The visit was an opportunity to meet with the owner and employees of the project, highlighting the technical and logistical aspects of production, as well as the challenges associated with ensuring the quality of the final product that meets the expectations of consumers.

Local investment and its economic impact

The BDM Frommage project represents a model for local investment in the dairy sector, given its contribution to job creation and the region's economic dynamism, according to the president of the East Region Investors Association. He explained that this type of initiative reflects a trend towards valorizing local resources and encouraging projects capable of integrating into the regional and national markets.

He added that the lab highlights the importance of innovation in developing local products with added value, especially in a region with agricultural and human resources that can be better utilized within food production chains.

Preliminary data indicate that the factory's products have received a positive response from consumers, including varieties of cheese related to the local characteristics of the region, which strengthens the presence of the eastern region in the map of food production in Morocco.

In this context, the project reflects an experience based on the convergence of private investment with the development of a local product that respects quality standards, thus contributing to supporting the local economy and opening new professional prospects for youth and actors in the agricultural and industrial sectors, without disconnecting from market requirements and the challenges of economic sustainability.
