Morocco's tourism performance in 2025: Revenues exceed 100 billion dirhams in nine months

Economy of the East

Morocco's tourism sector achieved remarkable results during the first nine months of 2025, recording revenues of 100 billion dirhams, according to data released by the Exchange Office in its monthly indicators of foreign trade.

This development reflects the continuation of the dynamism that the tourism sector has been experiencing for years, which has contributed to establishing Morocco as a preferred destination regionally and internationally.

Increase in revenue and number of tourists

According to official data, Morocco's tourism revenues increased by 14.7% compared to the end of September 2024, equivalent to an increase of 12.79 billion dirhams. In parallel to this rise, the Ministry of Tourism, Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy recorded a 14% growth in arrivals, bringing the total number of tourists to around 15 million visitors during the same period.

These indicators are a continuation of the 2024 performance, in which the sector's revenues reached 112.48 billion dirhams, recording an increase of 7.5% compared to 2023, when the Kingdom welcomed 17.4 million tourists, an increase of nearly 20% over the previous year.

Positive outlook for this year and next

According to the report of public institutions and enterprises attached to the draft Finance Law 2026, Morocco is expected to receive about 18 million tourists by the end of 2025, which would raise tourism revenues to about 124 billion dirhams. These projections reflect the growing demand for the Moroccan destination with its various coastal, cultural, desert and mountainous components.

In the same context, the Bank of Morocco confirmed during its quarterly meeting last September that the positive performance of tourism revenues will continue through 2025, with an expected increase of 11.3%. As for 2026, the sector is expected to continue growing by 4.8% to reach revenues of 131.2 billion dirhams.

An economic reading of the growth trajectory

This upward trajectory highlights that the Moroccan tourism sector has become a major lever for the national economy, given its contribution to pumping hard currency and stimulating several economic chains related to services, transportation, handicrafts, and employment. The figures also confirm that the Moroccan tourism market has been able to maintain its attractiveness despite global geopolitical shifts and changes in demand.

Given the current pace, it seems that the sector is on track to strengthen its position in the national economy, with continued diversification of tourism products and expansion of reception capacity in various regions, including the East, which in turn is attracting increasing interest as part of a comprehensive vision to diversify the national tourism offer
