Omar Annan: The East is “En Panne” and needs an economic boost

Economy of the East
Parliamentarian Omar Aanan, representing the Oujda Angad constituency for the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, described the eastern region as “En panne,” meaning almost at a standstill. This came during an oral intervention at the parliamentary dome on October 20, 2025, where he stressed that the region is neither fast nor slow, but suffers from a state of semi-developmental stalemate.
Annan, who represents the Socialist-Federal Opposition team in the House of Representatives during the 2021-2026 legislative term, explained that the eastern region needs a strong boost on the economic level to move the wheel of development. In his intervention, the parliamentarian focused on the need to revitalize development in the region by attracting investments and creating job opportunities.
Call to re-energize economic dynamism
The parliamentarian's statements reflect the opposition's concern about the economic situation in the east, which is one of the priority regions in national development policies. This intervention comes in the context of a parliamentary demand to reconsider the mechanisms adopted to revitalize the local economy and improve the standard of living of the population.
Aanan's diagnosis indicates that the region faces challenges in attracting investment projects to create jobs and stimulate the local economic fabric. According to the parliamentary intervention, there is an urgent need to develop a clear strategy to restore the region's development dynamism.
