Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Morocco and Giromar Fly discuss the future of professional tourism in the East
Economy of the East
A panel discussion titled “Professional Tourism: The future lies in the experience”, organized by the Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Morocco in partnership with Giromar Fly Travel, a company specialized in tourism services. This meeting comes in the context of the growing interest in developing the tourism sector in the Eastern Province, which is witnessing a strong economic dynamism supported by major strategic projects such as the West Mediterranean port of Nador and the Marcheca project.
The “Petit-déjeuner Débat” was an important platform for exchanging ideas and visions on the prospects of developing professional tourism in the region and linking it to various professional experiences. This type of discussion is particularly important in light of the national drive to make Morocco a global tourist destination capable of receiving 26 million tourists by 2030, according to the royal vision for the development of the tourism sector.
The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Morocco, founded in 1886, is one of the most prominent institutions that contribute to strengthening economic and trade relations between the Kingdoms of Morocco and Spain. Its activity in organizing such meetings reflects its belief in the importance of the tourism sector as a key economic lever, especially in the northern and eastern regions that have close ties with Spain in terms of investment and trade exchange.
For its part, Giromar Fly plays a pivotal role in providing integrated tourism services that include flights, hotel accommodation and cruises. Its partnership with the Spanish Chamber in organizing this meeting underscores the importance of public-private cooperation in promoting professional tourism, an innovative model that combines traditional tourism with professional activities.
This type of meeting contributes to raising the quality of tourism services offered in the East, through the exchange of expertise and successful international experiences. The region is working to implement 58 tourism projects between 2025 and 2030 with a total investment of Dh424 million, which reflects the great ambition to transform the East into a promising tourism destination capable of competing regionally and internationally.
For tourist guides and local actors in the sector, these meetings are a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge, expand their professional network, and open up to international best practices. Nador Airport recorded a 25% increase in passenger traffic during the first half of 2025, reflecting the region's huge potential to attract tourists and diversify its tourism offer.
The bet on sustainable tourism and local development requires the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, including official institutions, the private sector, professionals and associations. These strategic partnerships between Moroccan and Spanish authorities offer promising prospects for the development of distinctive professional tourism that benefits the local economy, contributes to job creation and improves the image of the Orient as an integrated and diversified tourist destination.
