In a surprising move, the management of the Marcheca Atalion Resort Hotel decided to end the duties of the new general manager, Omar Mahoubi, less than two months after his appointment, amidst circumstances characterized by much controversy and tension within the tourism establishment.

Mahoubi joined the hotel's management from Rabat, where he had accumulated a long experience in managing a number of high-end hotels, and had previously worked at an international hotel in the Iranian capital Tehran. However, this professional background did not help him overcome the growing challenges faced by the hotel, located on the shores of Lake Marcheca, which is located in the city of Nador.

According to informed sources, the new owners, Lebanese investors who recently acquired the institution as part of a restructuring process, made the decision to dismiss the hotel after “poor judgment in dealing with sensitive files,” as one employee put it, in addition to increasing customer complaints.

The same sources highlighted that among the points that caused great dissatisfaction among guests was the excessive and illegal proliferation of surveillance cameras in various areas of the hotel, including the restaurant, bar, corridors leading to the toilets, massage rooms, and rest areas. These practices were seen as an invasion of customers' privacy and a violation of applicable laws in the hospitality and tourism industry.

According to industry insiders, the hotel is going through a delicate phase that requires urgent interventions to restore its image in front of customers and ensure that it adheres to international standards in terms of hospitality services and respecting the privacy of guests.

It is not yet known who will succeed Omar Mahoubi at the helm of the hotel, but sources within the organization confirmed that the owners are in the process of hiring a new manager with experience in rescuing troubled hotel projects.
