Nador to host regional book fair

As part of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication's national strategy to encourage the act of reading and bring books closer to citizens, the city of Nador will host the 15th edition of the Regional Book Fair from May 12 to 18, 2025. This major cultural event is organized under the theme “Nador: The Book and the Culture of Reading in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, which highlights the interaction between written culture and contemporary technological developments.
This cultural event is an initiative of the Regional Directorate of Culture in the East Region, in cooperation with the Directorate of Books, Cabinets and Archives, and in partnership with the Municipality of Nador Region, the Nador Community, the Multidisciplinary College, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, as well as the Spanish Cultural Institute Cervantes.
The official opening ceremony of the exhibition is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, starting at 5 p.m. at the exhibition space on the Corniche of Nador. The event is expected to be an opportunity to reinforce the position of the book in light of the rapid digital transformations, and to spark discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of knowledge and culture.
This edition will witness the participation of various national and local publishing houses, as well as governmental organizations concerned with the field of books and reading. The cultural program accompanying the exhibition will include a variety of events including:
- Signing sessions for new publications
- Poetry evenings
- Critical readings
- Training workshops in writing short stories and very short stories
- Think tanks discuss the future of reading in the age of artificial intelligence
Interestingly, the timing of this edition coincides with the celebration of World ICT Day (May 17), which adds a strategic dimension to the event by discussing the challenges and opportunities that modern technology presents to the publishing and reading sector.
The organizers stress that this session will be an important milestone to achieve several goals, including:
- Encouraging literary creativity
- Establishing the habit of reading
- Opening a constructive dialog on how AI can be used to develop the publishing industry
- Preserving the humanistic and creative value of the paper book in the face of digitization
Through its rich and varied program, the exhibition is expected to be an opportunity for a meeting between different cultural and literary actors and a space for dialogue on ways to integrate the written cultural heritage with modern technologies.
