Economy of the East

The Ministry of Tourism, Traditional Industry, Social and Solidarity Economy announced that the number of tourists visiting Morocco reached 18 million by the end of November 2025, an unprecedented figure that exceeds the 2024 total by more than 600,000 additional visitors. This figure, according to the official communiqué, reflects the continued growth of the sector, registering an increase of 13.5 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

This latest development comes in the context of the implementation of the 2023-2026 roadmap, which aims to enhance air connectivity and intensify international promotion, as well as develop and diversify the tourism offer. The results achieved highlight the impact of these investments on Morocco's attractiveness as a diversified tourist destination open to new markets.

"The current achievements reflect the progress Morocco has made in recent years under the wise leadership of King Mohammed VI," the statement quoted Minister of Tourism, Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatima Zahra Amor as saying, adding that the sector is steadily moving towards ending the year on a positive note, especially with the African Cup of Nations, which is expected to give December additional dynamism.

Morocco among the top global destinations benefiting from tourism growth in 2025

A report by Travel and Tour World placed Morocco among the global destinations that benefited from a surge in tourist traffic this year. The list included countries such as Saudi Arabia, Malta, Qatar, El Salvador, Andorra, Serbia, Ethiopia, Colombia and Albania, each with characteristics that made them more attractive.

The report noted that the number of tourists visiting Morocco increased by 35 percent last year compared to 2019. Morocco's cultural and historical features, especially the ancient cities of Marrakech and Fez, and desert tourism activities such as camel riding and hiking trails in the Atlas Mountains, have become major attractions for travelers looking for experiences that combine adventure and heritage.

The report also emphasized that the Amazigh, Arab and European cultural diversity gives Morocco a unique tourist identity, while the Roman ruins in Willy and the traditional souks add more depth to the tourist experience. Morocco, along with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Colombia, has emerged as a leading destination thanks to an increase in arrivals, as a result of a combination of factors including infrastructure development, expansion of cultural and adventure offerings, easier visa policies, as well as tourists seeking authentic and immersive experiences.

With this performance, Morocco is entering a new phase that confirms its growing position in the international tourism map, supported by strategies aimed at enhancing its competitiveness and attracting different segments of visitors.
