Remittances from Moroccans living abroad to reach 92.7 billion dirhams by September 2025

Remittances from Moroccans living abroad reached 92.7 billion dirhams at the end of September 2025, according to provisional data from the Exchange Office. This is a slight increase of 1.1% compared to the same period in 2024, when remittances amounted to 91.7 billion dirhams.

Relative stability in diaspora remittances

The figures reflect a relatively stable flow of money sent by Moroccans living abroad to their home country. Over the course of a full year, the increase amounted to about 1 billion dirhams, indicating a moderate evolution in the volume of these remittances.

Remittances from Moroccans living abroad are an important source of hard currency for the national economy. These remittances support the domestic consumption of beneficiary households and play a role in boosting foreign currency reserves.

According to available data, France remains the main source of remittances for Moroccans living abroad, followed by Spain, Saudi Arabia and Italy, according to statistics recorded in recent years. This geographical distribution reflects the location of the Moroccan diaspora and its continued connection to the motherland.
